Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the game "Looper's Escape: Daily" (the "game") collects, why, and what you can do about it. We have tried to keep it short and plain. The game needs no account, no email address and no sign-up.
Who we are
The game is made by Matthew Smith, trading as MATRIE GAME STUDIO (the "developer", "we"). Questions or requests about your data: matriegamestudio@gmail.com.
What we collect
| Information | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| An anonymous player ID. A random ID created automatically the first time the game goes online. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number or store account. | To keep your scores together and show you your place on the leaderboard. |
| Your Looper name and code. The name starts as "Looper" with a random 4-character code. You can change the name in Settings. Names and codes are shown publicly on the leaderboard. | So other players can see who set a score. Please do not use your real name or personal details. |
| Your results. The day you played, levels cleared, time taken, whether you completed the game, and a flag if the game suspects the phone's clock was changed. | To build the daily and all-time leaderboards and to keep them fair. |
| Optional progress backup. If you choose to make a backup code, your progress (streak, stars, story unlocks) is stored online against that code. The code is stored in a scrambled (hashed) form. | So you can restore your progress on a new phone. Backup is optional and off by default. |
| Advertising information. If you do not buy Premium, ads are provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, and how you interact with ads. | To show and measure ads and prevent ad fraud. In the UK and EEA you are first asked for consent, and you can change your choice later. |
| Purchase confirmation. If you buy Premium, the transaction is handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive confirmation that Premium was bought, not your card or payment details. | To switch off ads and unlock Premium features, and to restore them if you reinstall. |
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera data. We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services at this time. If that changes, we will update this policy.
Information stored on your phone
Your settings, local scores, streaks and story progress are saved on your device. Uninstalling the game removes them, unless you made a backup code.
Who we share it with
- Supabase hosts our database (player ID, name and code, results, optional backups). Servers: the EU (Ireland).
- Google AdMob provides ads (see above). Their privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Play / Apple App Store process purchases.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires.
How long we keep it
Results and player records are kept while the game is in operation so that leaderboards stay complete. Backups are kept until you replace or delete them. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see below).
Your choices and rights
- Rename yourself at any time in Settings.
- Ads: change your ad consent through the game's privacy options, or reset your device's advertising ID in your phone's settings. Buying Premium removes ads.
- Delete your data: email us your Looper name and code (shown in Settings and on the main screen) and we will delete your player record, results and any backup.
- If you are in the UK or EEA you also have the right to access, correct, restrict or move your data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk).
Our reasons for using your information: running the game and leaderboards and keeping them fair (legitimate interests); showing personalised ads (your consent, where required); and processing your purchase (contract).
Children
The game is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Players cannot read or change the database directly; the game can only submit its own results and read the leaderboard. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Continued use of the game after a change means you accept the updated policy.
